The spring issue of Manhattan Bride is out! And guess who's on the cover? Its crazy to think that in the span of my career, I think that this is my very first magazine cover. Check out www.manhattanbride.com for more. While working with the lovely team at Manhattan Bride Magazine I was asked to chose my favorite dresses to shoot. I mean, it was up to ME which dresses would be featured in the Spring issue and potentially the cover of the magazine. I am recently engaged, so this was all the more real for me. There was lots of lace, beading, tulle, and silk flowing out of the garment bags on the racks.
Here are a few images from the behind the scenes photographer, Elyse Marie (Check out and LIKE her facebook page at www.facebook.com/ElyseMariePhotography). Stay tuned for images from the magazine when the issue comes out in a few short months! Check his blog out! I have to say, I was nervous about this test because there was no hair and make up artist. I did my own make up (barely!) and had my hair blown out the night before. BUT, I was so pleased with how it turned out. Tim is a new-ish and young photographer but he has amazing energy and knows exactly what he wants from the photo and from the model. We shot everything in about an hour, which is unheard of. But, it turned out great! Which images are your favorite? I was home visiting my family when I came across my mom's collection of practically all the work I have ever done as a model. She's kept this file since Day 1 of my modeling career. I usually tease her about keeping all these photos but this time I was so appreciative to have them to look back over. It made me realize how far I've come over these many years. I started modeling at only 13 years old. And wow! Was I a baby! Having this moment to look back and see my younger self, I realize how far I've come both in career and in life. The photos above are from my very first test shoot, age 13. (Before I fixed my teeth- Thank you Dr. Hodge!) I can't remember who the photograher was, but the shoot was in Seattle through Heffner Models. It has been so long since I've shot on film that I almost forgot what a thrill contact sheets can be. A contact sheet was this amazing thing where ALL of the images were printed out onto sheets and then passed around to the agents to make their selects (notice the red circles and x's). And just one short year later, teeth fixed, and a little more grown up my career really started in earnest. This shoot was age 14, again in Seattle. The photographer was Marc Von Borstel. I still love the beauty images that he took Recently, I had the honor of walking in a fashion show for Under Armour in Baltimore, MD. There were 13 female models booked from Wilhelmina Fitness and I was lucky enough to be a part of the group. One might think that 13 women together for a weekend, sharing rooms, trains, hair and make up might get a little dramatic. But it wasn't. In fact, it was really great. 5 of us took a Hot Vinyasa Yoga class together. A group went for sushi. EVERYONE was active in one way or another. Some girls went for runs, others a bike ride, the gym, something! It was so inspiring to be around so many beautiful, fit, fun women. A great inaugueration into the Wilhelmina Fitness board. I can't end this post without mentioning the amazing performance during the show by a pair of acro yogis. WOW WOW WOW! Check out theyogimatt.com to see more of Matt Giordano's phenomenal yoga. Spring if finally here and with it come warm weather and positive changes in my career. I've been lucky enough to have signed a contract with Wilhelmina Models. Specifically the Select Division. It has only been a mere day since signing and already my chart is filling up with options, requests and positive feedback. I love it when things just all work, with minimal complications and drama. Its like the universe is willing everything into place. I'm excited to be working with the enthusiastic and very skilled agents at Wilhelmina. Hopefully soon I will have some new images and excited blog posts coming! Often times people think that modeling is a glamourous job where models are showered with free clothing and products from clients. I wish!! As a freelancer, models need to actually be pretty savvy when it comes to managing money. My friend Ashley Stetts is also a model and has created an incredibly useful and quite funny blog about how to save money. Please check it out. Its not only for fashion models but for everyone out there. http://thefrugalmodel.com/ https://twitter.com/#!/thefrugalmodel Photographer: Noel Sutherland http://www.noelsutherland.com/ Hair and Make Up: Tonya Noland http://tonyanoland.com/ Filmed and Directed by Becky Yee; Make Up by Don Rokicki; Hair by Mako Mokin Check out their webpages: Don Rokicki: http://donrokicki.carbonmade.com/ Becky Yee: http://www.beckyyee.com/ |
